Sesame oil

A small but powerful seed
Sesame oil is extracted from seeds of Sesamum indicum, a herbaceous plant of the Pedaliaceae family, growing mainly in Africa and Asia. It is the very first plant from which edible oil was extracted, 3,500 years ago in Mesopotamia.
Oil extraction process
It is first cold pressed, then filtered through canvas to retain the oil's qualities. This method of cold extraction, without roasting, preserves all the active ingredients in sesame. It produces a clear oil with a light fragrance and pronounced sesame flavour.
